Animal Portraits - The Commission Process:

• I will work from photographs of animals I haven't met, as long as the quality is top notch and I am supplied with anecdotes regarding the animals' character, this allows me to create portraits posthumously of animals. However the usual method of completing a portrait is to travel to the animal, meet it and the owner and take photographs. From the photographs I choose, or choose with the owner, the most suitable as a reference for depicting typical pose and for describing personality. This is subject also to quality of light and colour.
• Depending on individual circumstances and on media (oils take longer) the portrait may take from two to four weeks to complete.
• The final work is presented unframed to the purchaser. The reason for this is the personal nature of frame and mount choice although I am happy to recommend mount colours and frame types.
• Portrait sizes range from 50cm X 40cm (unframed size) to 50cm X 65cm (unframed size) in chalk pastel. These sizes are somewhat limited due to the manufacturing restrictions on the type of paper I use, however larger sizes are possible where requested. In oils the portrait can range up to 150cm X 100cm (unframed).
• Portrait prices begin at $690.00 (NZD) and will vary depending on size, medium, type of animal and travel expenses. Specific prices on application.

People Portraits - The Commission Process:

• The commission process is exactly the same as with animal portraits except, in some circumstances, it may be easier for the subject to travel to me.
• Portrait prices begin at $980.00 (NZD) and may be executed in graphite, charcoal, oils or chalk pastel. Specific prices on application.
• Sizes and work time are the same as with the animal portraits.
